The Story of This Rug
Jaipur Rugs' Lacuna collection is a unique artistic endeavor that brings together the traditional Indo-Persian handwoven heritage and a contemporary approach to interior color. This rug was first woven from high-quality wool and silk yarns at a knot density of 10x10, then treated using the abrash (overdyed) technique with mineral dyes. The resulting intense color saturation and timeless appearance transform an ordinary rug into the focal point of a room.
Why a One-of-a-Kind Handwoven Jaipur Rug
- Every rug is unique; the abrash (color variation) created during the overdying process is natural and cannot be replicated
- The wool and silk blend pile deeply absorbs the overdyed dye, creating a lustrous finish that resists fading
- Thanks to the 10x10 knot density, the pattern beneath the color remains visible and creates tonal depth
- Natural materials and mineral dyes minimize the risk of allergic reactions in the home
- The handweaving tradition continues to provide sustainable livelihoods for rural families in India
Color and Pattern
An arabesque overdyed ground in rich gold, saffron, and mustard-yellow tones. It brings together the warmth of the sun and the richness of Indian weaving tradition in a single color palette.
Care Recommendations
- Regularly remove surface dust with a soft-bristled vacuum
- Treat stains immediately; blot gently instead of rubbing
- Annual professional rug cleaning is recommended; at-home wet washing is not recommended to preserve the overdyed color
- Protect it from direct sunlight; filter sunlight with curtains to prevent the overdyed colors from fading
- Using a rug pad of suitable thickness underneath both extends its lifespan and prevents slipping
This rug was born from the quiet meeting of the centuries-old hands of Jaipur's master artisans and a contemporary understanding of art. When you bring it into your room, you will discover a different depth with every glance.

Protect Elegance
A delicate care routine should be adopted to preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia's handwoven and natural-fiber pieces, which add value to your living space, for generations to come.
Immediate Action and Contact with Liquids
When liquid is spilled, timing is the most critical factor. Using a clean, slightly damp cloth, remove the liquid from the surface by gently blotting only, never rubbing. Always work in the direction of the rug's pile (the natural direction in which the fibers lie). Rubbing can damage the shape of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If you are unsure, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use vacuum cleaners with low suction power. High-powered upright vacuum cleaners and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance the reaction of natural yarns to light and prevent localized tonal differences (fading), we recommend changing the direction of your rug every 2 to 6 months.
The Expert Touch (Professional Cleaning)
Noble textures such as handwoven fibers, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. Such products can irreversibly damage the rug's silky sheen and structural integrity. For deep cleaning, seek assistance only from professional rug care centers specializing in natural fibers.
