Katmandu Series 100% New Zealand Wool Mélange-Textured Living Room Handwoven Sisal Rug SAND

Katmandu Wool Handwoven Sisal Rug — Sand Beige (Sand)
Katmandu is a quiet, timeless foundation where 100% New Zealand wool meets the flatweave technique. A blend of wool fibers spun in different shades creates a depth that a single color cannot provide: a calm sense of unity from a distance, and a subtle mélange texture up close. It highlights the furniture in living and sitting rooms without imposing itself. This variant is a warm beige in sun-kissed sand tones (sand).
New Zealand Wool
With its long fibers and high natural luster, New Zealand wool is among the most esteemed materials in the world of rugs. The fiber’s natural elasticity helps the rug retain its shape for years; its hand is soft, while its presence is refined and understated.
Material and Construction
- Material: 100% New Zealand Wool
- Weave: Handwoven
- Texture: Flatweave
- Weight per M²: 1800 g
- Color: Sand Beige (Sand)
What Makes Katmandu Different
Each rug is individually handwoven by artisans on a loom. The mélange surface is created not with dye, but by blending the natural shades of the fibers themselves — which is why it comes alive with the light and gains character over time. Its pile-free construction is fine and disciplined; it does not cause problems beneath doors and retains its shape under heavy use with its 1800 g/m² texture.
Care
Regular vacuuming is sufficient; in the event of spills, absorb the liquid immediately with a dry cloth. Deep cleaning should be entrusted only to a professional rug-cleaning service.
Sizes
The Katmandu wool handwoven sisal rug is available in the following standard sizes:
- 100 x 200 cm
- 100 x 300 cm

Protect Your Elegance
To preserve the original splendor and silky texture of Carpetdocia’s handwoven and natural-fiber creations that add value to your living space for generations, you should adopt a careful maintenance routine.
Immediate Action and Liquid Spills
When a liquid is spilled, timing is the most critical factor. Using a clean, slightly damp cloth and never rubbing, gently blot the liquid from the surface. Always work in the direction of the rug’s pile (the natural lay of the fibers). Rubbing can damage the structure of delicate fibers such as TENCEL™ and viscose. If you are unsure, stop immediately.
Routine Care and Light Balance
For your weekly cleaning routine, always use vacuum cleaners with low suction power. High-powered upright vacuum cleaners and stiff brushes can damage the natural structure of handwoven yarns. To balance the reaction of natural fibers to light and prevent localized tone differences (fading), we recommend changing the direction of your rug every 2 to 6 months.
Expert Care (Professional Cleaning)
Noble materials such as handwoven fibers, TENCEL™, viscose, and New Zealand wool should not come into contact with household chemical cleaners. These products can irreversibly damage the rug’s silky sheen and structural integrity. For deep cleaning, seek assistance only from professional rug-care centers specializing in natural fibers.
